Op zaterdag 13 december 2025 om 19.30 uur verzorgt het koor Haarlem Voices wederom het Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. Traditionele Engelse kerstliederen worden afgewisseld met de kerstverhalen uit de Bijbel. Het is een kerstviering met muziek uit de Engelse Choral traditie, dat al vele jaren – met groot succes- plaatsvindt in de St. Paschalis Baylonkerk op de Wassenaarseweg 53 in Den Haag.

On Saturday 13th December, at 7:30pm, the Dutch choir Haarlem Voices will perform their annual, very succesfull Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. Traditional English Christmas carols and hyms will be sung, interspersed with the nativity story as told in the Bible. This anual celebration, originating in the English church tradition, is a much-loved event in the St. Paschalis Baylon Church, Wassenaarseweg 53, The Hague. The traditionalist brick stone church, designed by Dutch architect Alexander Kropholler, is the perfect backdrop for meeting and celebrating in the Christmas season. The tradition of the Festival of Nine lessons and Carols originates in the late 19th century, when carols were introduced in the Choral Evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. The Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, is world famous for this service, which has been broadcasted on Christmas Eve since 1928.
